Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), Ireland: St Patrick's Day 2013

There were some incredible Aurora displays over north and northwestern parts of Ireland on Sunday night as a result of a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) on Sunday morning.

The solar blast led to amazing Northern Lights displays on St Patrick's night.

Tuesday night's band of precipitation is throwing up some unusual forecasting difficulties regarding whether it will fall as rain or something more wintry. The usual atmospheric indicators are dismissing it as a rain event, but these can be misleading in certain setups, and tomorrow night qualifies.

The Meteo Times (TMT) Photo of the Month Winner (December 2012)

Congratulations to Fiona Windsor on winning the third Meteo Times photo of the month competition. Fiona's image of the Round Tower at Glendalough in Co Wicklow received the most public votes in a poll (deadline 1pm, Friday) conducted on the TMT Facebook page.

The photograph that received the second highest number of 'Likes' was Brian Wilson's black & white-colour merged image from Belleek Woods, Co Mayo. 

 In third place was Karl Woodhouse's late autumn image captured on the road from Kinsale to Inishannon in Cork.

The Meteo Times (TMT) Photo of the Month (15 Sep - 14 Oct, 2012)

Congratulations to Damien Stenson Photography on winning the first Meteo Times photo of the month competition. Damien's magical image of the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare received the most public votes in a poll conducted on the TMT Facebook page 

The three images with the most votes were all photographed in the West of Ireland and featured night-time scenes.

The photograph that received the second highest number of 'Likes' was Conor Ledwith's shot of the Aurora Borealis over Lough Corrib on 8 October, 2012.

International Space Station Viewing Opportunities Ireland/UK
