NOAA's Aurora Forecast

Parts of Ireland were treated to a rare Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) display on Monday night, as a result of a coronal mass ejection (CME) impacting Earth's magnetic field. 

The impact sparked a moderate (Kp=6) geomagnetic storm and Northern Lights in Ireland as far south as Mayo, Galway and Dublin.

The Northern Lights display coincided with a major outburst of Draconid meteors, which had been reported by The Canadian Meteor Orbit Radar (CMOR) on Monday afternoon.

Closer to the Arctic Circle, Zoltan Kenwell from Alberta, Canada, captured the Northern Lights early on Monday morning.
