Monday evening through Tuesday morning will see frequent, heavy wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow affect Ulster, north Leinster, Connacht and West Munster in particular. The showers will be carried some distance inland due to the strong northwesterly winds but some parts of the south and east will remain dry during this period.
With instability increasing through Monday evening, there is also an increased risk that the showers may turn thundery in places, especially, but not exclusively, in western and northern coastal regions.
Showers during Tuesday afternoon will be mostly of rain or hail, except on higher ground in the northwest and north where some snow showers will occur. It will become less showery away from northern and western coasts on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Daytime temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will range between 4c and 7c, mildest in the south.
