iWeather Online’s Patrick Gordon writes: The coldest December in the series is 1950 but it is looking very possible to almost certain the monthly mean values for this December 2010 will finish even colder and very likely be the coldest December on record. Whether or not this December's finishing mean temperatures will finish below those of January 1963, the coldest of any month on record, will not be known until the month is complete but certainly it is something to have lived through such an intensely cold month!
NOTE: Some station's data does not begin until the mid 1950's
