The band of cloud over Ireland stretches all the way back to the Caribbean in this EUMETSAT image from midday today.  Sadly, St Lucia's 28c temperatures are not being repeated here. 

The Jetstream is a fast flowing, relatively narrow air current found in the atmosphere around 10 kilometers above the surface of the Earth. It is one of the primary drivers of Ireland's climate and is responsible for the present spell of unsettled weather
